The Art of Candlestick Analysis

Candlestick Chart Analysis is the 400 year old Japanese art of predicting moves in the financial markets enabling traders to weigh the odds in their favour when making a decision to trade or not to trade a financial market.

Around 100 years after Leonardo de Vinci had designed his myriad mechanical devices and painted the world famous “Mona Lisa”, a young Japanese Rice Trader realised the intricate relationships between the Open, High, Low, and Close market prices and represented them graphically using symbols. These symbols are known today as Candlesticks.

This innovative young man developed these symbols into sometimes complex patterns and used the signals they gave him to accurately trade the Rice Exchanges and to amass a quite incredible fortune. His family quickly became the forerunners of today’s billionaire elite and consequently the stuff of legends, having songs (the celebrity press of the day) written about them. A point to remember here is that computers did not exist in those days and so all charts and calculations were done by hand; a quite formidable task for most of us these days!

However, it wasn't just the candlestick patterns that were responsible for this family's good fortune. The Japanese are famous for their discipline and unswerving dedication to their arts and it is this capability that ultimately led to the family's resounding success.

If you are to avoid being one of the 95% of traders who fail to acheive success in this business, you must learn to approach your trading with unswerving discipline. When you start trading one system and then flit from one technique to another as soon as you lose a few trades, you are adding unproven factors to the mix. Therefore, you are no longer following the proven strategy and cannot expect to acheive the results advertised.
